Singapore Airlines has been rated as the best airline for bringing sports equipment on board – with Air China and Delta coming bottom of the table.
Surfwear retailer Ann’s Cottage studied baggage weight allowances, costs for overweight baggage, and customer ratings based on comfort, value and service – as well as restrictions on specialist sports equipment.
Singapore Airlines scored an 8/10 rating for comfort, service and value – and it allows travellers to take sports equipment onboard as checked baggage.
“Singapore Airlines’ checked baggage limit is 30kg, and with the average surfboard weighing around 3kg, you’ll have plenty of allowance,” said the retailer.
Air China was classed as the worst as it won’t allow kayaks, diving equipment or surfboards as checked baggage allowance.
Travellers will have to pay just over £300 for each piece. The airline also scored just 4/10 for comfort, service and value.
