Travel agency Westoe Travel is sponsoring a theatre show which charts the highs and lows of South Shields Football Club.
The Everywhere We Go show runs at The Customs House theatre from May 22 to 25 in South Shields, Tyneside.
The travel agency became a sponsor of its local football club in 2015 when it became homeless and needed financial backing to survive.
New owners brought the club back from a ground 22 miles away in Peterlee – where numbers watching the games had dwlindled – to its home ground Mariners Park in 2016.
The team, which 90 years ago was playing against the likes of Chelsea and Manchester in the football league, enjoyed a resurgence in supporter attendance at its games once it started to win trophies after returning to its home ground.
The club’s turn in fortunes culminated in an historic day at Wembley in May 2017 when 15,000 supporters travelled down to London to watch the team play Cleethorpes Town and win 4-0 to take home the FA Vase.
As social media and travel sponsor, Westoe Travel sponsored the team coach to Wembley and took supporters down to the capital for the game.
Owner Graeme Brett said: “We believe in supporting events in our local community and this is a great mix of theatre and sport coming together.”
