Bruce Poon Tip and Claire Sweeney to speak at Atas Conference

G Adventures founder Bruce Poon Tip will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Association of Touring & Adventure Suppliers (Atas) Conference.

He will appear alongside travel ambassador Claire Sweeney and Classic FM presenter Aled Jones at next month’s two-day trade event in Manchester.

Poon Tip’s keynote address will be the culmination of a morning of agent-oriented business sessions about the touring and adventure industry, centred on the theme ‘Experience the Moment’.

Sweeney will discuss her role as ambassador for solo specialist Just You and her recent experiences on tours of India and Italy, while Jones will reprise his role as host of the Atas Awards.

Atas chairman Paul Melinis, UK and Europe managing director of APT, said: “I look forward to welcoming a great line-up of guest speakers at this year’s flagship conference, which promises to be full of practical, insightful advice and excellent networking opportunities.

“We chose the theme ‘Experience the Moment’ to showcase one of the biggest selling points for a touring holiday – giving travellers incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experiences that bring them closer to their chosen destination – so it will be absolutely unmissable for agents who are looking to boost their sales of this growing sector.”

This year’s event, from September 18-19, has been extended to two days to include a welcome reception the evening before the full-day conference, which comprises business sessions, a trade fair and gala dinner.

The event, held in association with Travel Weekly, has moved to a new venue in Manchester’s Old Trafford Cricket Ground and is supported by destination partner South African Tourism, technology partner Tigerbay, and consumer media partners Global and Mail Metro Media.
