Two Travel Weekly writers have been commended in the Aito Travel Writer of the Year Awards.
Deputy features and supplements editor Laura French was second place in the Specialist Travel Association’s travel trade writer of the year award, for her article Head in the Clouds about her trip to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Another Travel Weekly article earned freelance writer Meera Dattani third place in the category for her piece Wild West: Exploring undiscovered Sierra Leone.
Five awards were given out at Aito’s 2019 Travel Writer of the Year awards which followed its Aito Meets the Media event at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel, London.
More than 300 entries were made and the articles were judged on their being inspirational, informative, interesting and well-written.
