New commercial chief joins Eurotunnel Le Shuttle

A new chief commercial officer of Eurotunnel Le Shuttle has been named.

Deborah Merrens has been recruited to replace Jo Willacy who stepped down in October.

Merrens has international expertise working across Europe, the US and Asia in tourism and transport in the B2C and B2B sectors, including as advertising and marketing manager for the Channel Tunnel operator from 1995 to 1997.

Her career includes spells at Delta Air Lines, British Airways and Hilton Worldwide, where she was marketing director.

Merrens joined Mastercard in Singapore in 2010 as senior vice president, consumer and digital marketing for Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

She was then appointed as vice president global marketing and customer experience at tax-free shopping firm Global Blue.

Merrens will report to Eurotunnel deputy chief executive Francois Gauthey.

She will use her experience “to continue the development of the Eurotunnel Le Shuttle services with the passenger and freight operational teams,” the company said.
