Spear Travels sets £10,000 ‘Adopt a Caravan’ fundraising target

Independent agency Spear Travels has pledged to raise £10,000 to adopt a caravan for the Family Holiday Association.

The aim of the 2020 fundraising across the retalier’s 12 branches is to cover the costs of running one of the charity’s caravans for a year.

The FHA owns a number of caravans, located at holiday parks around the UK coast.

They give struggling families a chance to take a beak, especially during the peak school-holiday period.

It costs about £10,000 a year to maintain caravan, a fee that covers costs such as ground rent, fuel bills, cleaning, furnishing and repairs.

Spear Travels operations director Trevor Davis said: “The FHA ‘Adopt a Caravan’ initiative touched everyone’s heart when launched at our annual conference in York in December.

“The Spear Travels Group team will work hard this year raising funds so that those less fortunate can enjoy fantastic family holidays that so many of us take for granted.”

FHA head of fundraising Angie Watson added: “We’re so excited to be working with Spear Travels and supporting the agents across the branches.

“The passion from the team so far has been fantastic and their desire to make a difference to families has been so heart-warming.”
