Just You has reported “a fantastic increase” in interest for its solo guided holidays to Italy following last week’s episode of Holidaying with Jane McDonald on Channel 5.
Screen on February 7, the programme featured TV presenter Johnny Ball on his first solo holiday experience when he joined Just You’s Highlights of Tuscany tour.
Alastair Campbell, Just You’s managing director, said: “We have seen a really positive response following Friday’s show.
“Our trade partners contacted us on Saturday to say that their customers had seen Channel 5’s show and were interested in solo Italy trips with Just You.
“We also had a busy weekend in our contact centre, with Italy proving to be the most asked-about destination.
Ball said: “I was not sure what to make of a solo holiday. However, it was wonderful, everyone was mingling and mixing with themselves and with me, it was an absolute joy.
“The beauty of this type of holiday is that you can join in with the group or you can go off exploring on your own.
“Even though the holiday is for solo travellers, you are unlikely to stay by yourself for long; the holiday is full of people intent on getting to know each other and make new friends.
“You think that people might be a bit nervous, but after the first get together everyone was getting on a chatting like old friends. I could tell from the start it was going to be a great week.”
Just You’s eight-day Highlights of Tuscany tour costs from £899 and features Pisa, Siena and Florence.
