Eastern Airways unveils Teesside-Alicante summer service

Eastern Airways will operate a new summer service from Teesside airport to Alicante as part of its Flybe franchise agreement.

The twice-weekly flights to the Spanish resort will start on Friday July 17 and will operate until September 11, offering options for weekend breaks and four, seven, 10 and 14-night trips.

Departure times from Teesside are 8am and Alicante at 11.50am local time, and Eastern Airways will use a 76-seat Embraer 170 e-jet.

Fares to Alicante start from £119 one-way, and will be bookable from March 2 on Flybe’s website.

The announcement follows the news last month of Eastern Airways’ fleet expansion plans and a new network of Teesside routes to Cardiff, Belfast City, Dublin, Southampton, London City and Isle of Man – complementing its existing Aberdeen operation.

Alicante is the gateway to Spain’s Costa Blanca and the popular resorts of Benidorm, Altea and Murcia.

The new flights will be the first in nine years from Teesside to Alicante.

Roger Hage, Eastern Airways’ general commercial and operations manager, said: “This is all part of our growing partnership with Teesside, with major plans for 2021, aside from the six domestic and Irish new routes we’ve already announced.”

Cardiff flights from Teesside started on February 10. Belfast City, Dublin and Southampton will start on March 9, followed by London City on April 27 and the seasonal Isle of Man flights from May 30.
