Coronavirus: Customers thank Newmarket for repatriation efforts

Customers have thanked Newmarket Holidays for their efforts in getting them home when tours have been cut short as a result of coronavirus.

The escorted touring specialist was praised for its handling and communication to guests as it reacted to the changing Foreign Office travel advisories.

A customer on its Lisbon, Seville and the Glorious Algarve trip, Derek, said: “Firstly I would like to thank your company for arranging my return home at short notice. I would particularly like to thank the guide Pamela who kept us all in the picture and even took action when we were all in the airport at Lisbon by responding to a telephone call and reminding the airport authorities to put up our boarding gate.”

Jill, who had been on Cyprus Discovered, said: “Thank you very much for getting me safely back from Cyprus. It was a bit of a worrying day until we heard we had a BA flight home. The people in Dionysus Hotel were wonderful – it was a good choice of hotel and we were glad we’d chosen it.”

Jenny, a guest on Newmarket’s escorted tour Follow the Mekong – Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, said: “I would like you to pass on how well our Cambodia guide Mr. Kim did in sorting out flights information was changing on an hourly basis and he coped very well. Thanks again for moving our flight also will be happy to travel with you again as soon as the world is open again.”

And Sam and Barbara, on the same tour, added: “Just a big thank you from us to the team at Newmarket for the way you have acted in this unprecedented situation. We chose our holiday with you because of your reputation, and it has been thoroughly reinforced by everything you have done.”

In a newsletter, Newmarket said: “It’s been a week like no other. We have brought home lots of customers from countries where advice has been changing and borders have been closing on a daily basis.

“We are very grateful for these messages of support and would like to reiterate to all our travel agency partners how much we appreciate your patience and understanding while our sales and customer service team work in these unprecedented circumstances.”
