Covid-19 triggers ‘right-sizing’ by G Touring

G Touring, the parent of sister brands Travelsphere and Just You, is conducting a “right-sizing” of the business to combat the impact of Covid-19.

The confirmation came as south of England key account manager Graham Bishop announced on social media he had left the company to set up a GoCruise franchise after joining just over a year ago from Cunard.

However, G Touring said Bishop was “at risk of redundancy” and “should market conditions change in this time we will be delighted to retain him”.

G Touring managing director Alastair Campbell said: “The Covid-19 pandemic has had serious ramifications within many industry sectors, none more so than the tourism Industry.

“The necessity for our customers not to travel along with the global close down of borders have had a rapid and significant impact on us.”

He added: “At this stage no member of the G Touring team has left the business through compulsory redundancy, and we are working tirelessly to mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on our business.

“Like many others in the travel and leisure sector we are currently in the process of right-sizing the business for the future.

“Though our industry faces extremely challenging times, we also know that loyal customers appetite for travel remains.

“We therefore look to the near future where we can once more provide fantastic holidays for our customers and support our trade partners.

“Our thoughts are with all those in the global travel community that are suffering directly or indirectly as a result of this cruel situation.

“Out of respect to potentially impacted team members we will not go into further details at this stage.”
