Qatar Airways appoints vice president of sales for Europe

Qatar Airways appointed Thierry de Bailleul as vice president sales for Europe.

The position will see him lead the airline’s sales operations across more than 30 European nations served by the airline, including the UK.

De Bailleul will be based in London and joins the carrier with more than 30 years of experience in commercial aviation management, including roles at Air France-KLM and Emirates.

His most recent role before joining Qatar Airways was as chief commercial officer for Gerard Bertrand Wines.

Qatar Airways chief commercial officer Simon Talling Smith said: “We are thrilled to welcome Thierry to the Qatar Airways team, and excited about the depth of knowledge he brings from many years in the travel and aviation sector. He joins the company at a particularly significant period, as we start to rebuild from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Thierry’s extensive experience of helping to drive sales across different regions with different brands will contribute to the recovery process, and the continued growth of our airline across Europe.”

De Bailleul said: “This is a challenging time for all airlines, but Qatar Airways has proven its resilience in continuing to fly and take passengers home where possible. We have helped return thousands of customers from overseas to their homes in France, the UK, Germany and other European destinations over the past few weeks and our cargo operations have kept a vital supplies moving into and out of Europe.”
