EasyJet holidays discounts Egypt in hope for winter sun breakthrough

Egypt holidays worth more than £1,000 are being discounted by £100 by easyJet holidays as the operator holds out hope for a change in travel advice to allow winter sun trips.

The move follows the operator revealing that almost half of visitors to its website say they intend to travel in the next three months and 60% of respondents looking for offers and deals.

The company is hoping the Foreign Office advice for Egypt will be relaxed in time for winter breaks.

The current advice Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office advice is against all but essential international travel for the whole of Egypt.

However, if the firm has to cancel a holiday it has been processing refunds within an average of 12 days.

The discount deal is available from today (Friday) until 9am on September 15 for travel from November 1 to October 31 next year with £60 deposits per person for packages to the Red Sea resorts of Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada.

Prices lead in at £247 per person for seven nights in February departing from Gatwick.

Commercial director Paul Bixby said: “With its history, beaches, diving and year-round good weather, Egypt offers something for everyone whether you’re looking for a great value winter sun break or a summer holiday.

“And we know deals and offers are really important right now, so on top of our already incredible value for money it’s great to introduce this £100 off promotion.

“We know things are uncertain at the moment, but we know customers still want something to book and look forward to.

“We’re on your side if things need to change so customers can have peace of mind and book with confidence.

“We’re delighted to be taking people on holiday again and look forward to helping them discover the best of Egypt with our great value deals just as soon as we can.”
