Ex-Travelopia manager receives ‘first serious pay cheque’ since May

A former Travelopia regional destination manager has set up a representation firm after being made redundant in a company restructure.

Rowan Goldthorp’s Magic Circle Representation works with selected DMCs and offers UK based representation, product development and business development services.

Prior to Travelopia, Goldthorp was head of product at VIVID Travel, and spent five years until 2017 at Wendy Tu Tours after starting her product career at Archers Direct and Cosmos Tours and Cruises.

Magic Circle Representation currently represents Indian and Sri Lanka DMCs Sita India and Aitken Spence Travels.

Goldthorp said: “I just received my first serious pay cheque since launching Magic Circle Representation in May.

“After a summer of hard work, it’s fantastic to finally start seeing some green shoots, and my faith in the travel industry is as strong as ever.”

She added a note of encouragement to others facing redundancy due to the Covid-19 crisis: “Don’t give up on the industry. Just don’t.

“Humans are naturally curious, and they want to explore. It will come back, it will. Hold on, keep grafting, we will provide those holidays to those who want to explore.

“The wins will happen, no matter how small. Keep going. We’ll get it back.”
