Emirates boosts capacity out of Newcastle

Emirates has scaled up operations out of Newcastle with a fifth weekly flight to Dubai.

The airline’s new service reinstates a Saturday flight from Newcastle to Dubai after a gap of more than two years.

It has been reintroduced to meet sustained demand for international travel on the back of steadily increasing sales in recent weeks.

The flight departs Newcastle at 9.10pm on Saturday and arrives in Dubai at 7.25am the following day. Emirates now has flights leaving Newcastle on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Emirates divisional vice president in the UK Richard Jewsbury said: “Scaling up operations to Newcastle will provide even better connectivity to the north east and we’re thrilled to be adding more capacity.

“Bookings to Dubai and beyond have been steadily growing and our forecasts expect this trend to continue over the peak summer period and beyond.”

Leon McQuaid, director of aviation development at Newcastle International Airport, said: “The re-start of a Saturday service marks an important milestone in restoring Emirates daily service from the north east’s largest airport, and shows what confidence Emirates has in the airport, our passengers and the region.”

Emirates’ most popular destinations out of the airport following the easing of travel restrictions are: Dubai; Bangkok; Phuket; The Maldives and Sydney.

By October the airline will have 110 weekly flights across seven UK hubs including Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow.

The airline recently announced it was expanding the availability of it premium economy class to flights between London and Dubai from August 1.
