Flights in June yet to reach pre-pandemic levels

Flight volumes from the UK in June are expected to reach the highest level since October 2019.

However, overall numbers remain down by more than 16% compared to June 2019, according to flight analytics firm Cirium.

Services to some holiday destinations are recovering from pandemic lows, with increased activity to Turkey, Greece and Morocco and stable levels to Cyprus.

Flights from the UK are exceeding pre-Covid June 2019 levels by 34.5% to Turkey, 24.2% to Greece and 13.8% to Morocco.

Destinations which have yet to reach the same levels from the UK include Portugal, Spain, Croatia, US, Italy, France, UAE and Malta

A total of 83,136 departures are scheduled from UK airports next month,  the highest number since October 2019 when there were 94,893.

Flights from the UK in are up 241% on the same month last year, and 823% up on June 2020 during the first wave of the pandemic.
