Portuguese airport workers threaten August bank holiday strike

August bank holiday flight disruption is being threatened due to a strike by airport workers in Portugal.

Lisbon, Faro, Porto and Funchal airports could be affected by the dispute with a walk-out due to take place between August 26-28.

It came as a separate plan for industrial action on August  19-21 was was resolved.

The bank holiday action covers staff working for baggage handling firm Portway at the country’s four main gateway airports.

Portuguese aviation workers union Sintac announced the walkout claiming a lack of salary updates among other grievances against Portway, owned by airports group Vinci.
