MSC Cruises to name latest flagship at Ocean Cay

MSC Cruises is to name its latest flagship, MSC Seashore, at its private marine reservice in the Bahamas, Ocean Cay.

It will be the first cruise ship naming ceremony to be held at a private island.

Travel agents and stakeholders will be invited to the November 18 event following a cruise from Miami a day earlier.

Seashore will sail its inaugural seven-night cruise as it starts its debut US season on November 20.

The event, which will take place on board as well as on the island, will see godmother Sophia Loren name an MSC Cruises ship for the 16th time. It will feature a gala dinner, live entertainment and more.

The naming of MSC Seashore is also the formal inauguration of Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, which opened in late 2019 and closed shortly after due to the pandemic. The island has since gone through further development work.

MSC Cruises took delivery of Seashore in July, and it began sailing in the Mediterranean in August.
