Arena River Cruises appoints Trevor Davis as trade consultant

Arena River Cruises has appointed industry veteran Trevor Davis as a consultant charged with boosting UK trade sales and agent relationships post-Covid.

Former Co-operative Travel and Thomas Cook director Davis will provide support to existing trade partners from this month while working to generate new agent relationships.

His representation agency 3For will also work alongside Arena to develop several brand ambassadors with the long-term goal of increasing awareness of the line’s affordable four-star river cruise product.

His appointment follows the launch of MS Arena, which set sail on its inaugural journey last month following a two-year delay.

Davis said: “Having had a chance to experience the MS Arena first-hand on its inaugural departure, I am convinced there is a real opportunity for such good quality, affordable river cruises to occupy a gap in the market.

“The ship itself exceeded my expectations, with great facilities, excellent food and friendly service that make it perfect for the UK market.

“There are plenty of operators competing for space in the river cruise sector and Arena’s trips travel the same rivers and visit the same ports as many others, but at a more modest price. Our role will be to bring this message to agents, spearheading face-to-face relationships and using connections forged over 45 years in the industry to open doors with potential new partners.

“We will be providing marketing and promotional support, attending events and arranging agent training in conjunction with the Arena team.”

Steve Goodenough, managing director of Arena Travel, said: “We are delighted to have finally started sailing again and to have launched the MS Arena following two years of Covid-induced delays.

“Re-establishing relationships with existing trade partners and introducing our river cruise product to new agents is going to be absolutely key for us in fully getting back to normal, so we are very pleased to have 3For support our efforts.”
