Hays Travel appoints Lisa McAuley as non-executive director

Hays Travel has appointed former Gold Medal boss Lisa McAuley as a non-executive director.

McAuley will sit on the group board of the UK’s largest independent travel agency.

She recently left her role of managing director of B2B tour operations at Gold Medal parent dnata Travel Europe, having acquired a majority stake in Silver Travel Advisor.

McAuley, who joined Gold Medal in 2018, acquired a majority share in the publisher, deals and advice site which has a 123,000-strong community for the over-50s – which she was already a non-executive director of.

In a 35-year travel industry career, she has also been managing director of Silversea Cruises and rose to head of international sales and accounts at Avis Budget Group.

Dame Irene Hays, owner of Hays Travel, said: “I’m delighted to announce the appointment of an additional non-executive to the Hays Travel board.

“Lisa is an exceptional individual who will bring the right skills and culture suited to the ongoing development of Hays Travel.”

McAuley added: “I’m incredibly excited to be joining the Hays Travel group board and contributing to the future of the company at this critical time for the travel sector.

“I’ve always held the Hays Travel brand and team with the highest regard and look forward to building upon the opportunities being presented as the industry moves forward.”
