Inflation to affect travel habits of three in five Britons, study finds

Three in five Britons said that inflation will impact the way they travel, according to a study conducted by Tripadvisor.

The company found 30% of Britons said they will likely travel for shorter lengths of time, while 30% said they are likely to travel somewhere closer to home than they previously planned, as a direct result of rising costs.

Gen Z travellers were reportedly the most affected by inflation, as 69% said the rising cost of living will change the way they intend to travel, compared to 31% of baby boomers.

Despite the rising costs, 37% of UK travellers said they intend to travel as planned this autumn, while 69% of millennials said they plan to travel more this autumn than they did during the same period in 2021.

Whether going abroad or not, 75% of Britons said they plan to travel between one and six hours from home, while 23% said they would go somewhere seven or more hours away.

The study found more than half (58%) of UK travellers are planning to take a trip of at least four nights this autumn, with the first two weeks of September being the most popular travel dates.
