Travel agencies hail first regional trade event from Atas

The Association of Touring and Adventure Suppliers has received “great” feedback from agents and suppliers who attended its first regional event.

Taking place at Revolución de Cuba, Leeds, the ‘Atas presents’ evening event featured networking with key tour operators from touring and adventure sector, plus refreshments and fun activities.

Operators who attended included Cosmos, Hurtigruten, Intrepid Travel, Newmarket Holidays and Riviera Travel.

Claire Brighton, Atas account director, said: “All the suppliers agreed that the agents who attended were really engaged, so everyone found it was a very worthwhile event – and a great night out.

“It was a fun way for everyone to network and find out about the opportunities that our members can offer in the lucrative and growing touring and adventure sector.

“We’re planning our second ‘Atas presents’ event for agents in the south, so keep an eye out for that – and, of course, our annual conference will be taking place again later this year too.”

Tony Mann, director of Idle Travel in Bradford, attended the evening with his team of agents.

“What a brilliant night we had. We all came away with lots of information, new marketing ideas and free giveaways,” he said.

“There were drinks and food – and we made new contacts in the touring area, where as an agency, we aim to do better.”
