Travel Village Group bolsters marketing team with first class graduates

The Travel Village Group has bolstered its marketing team with the appointment of two first class graduates.

Jenny Higgins (pictured left) and Lilli Medlicott (right) both graduated from Leeds Beckett University with first class degrees shortly after joining the agency as marketing assistants.

Higgins, who studied fashion marketing, began her role in May, initially working part time while she completed her final year of study, before joining full time after submitting her assignments.

She manages parts of the social media channels for the agency, as well as focusing on marketing for the Cruise Village.

She said: “I specialised in visual communication and graphics while at university which have been really helpful with my job as I use a lot of Photoshop. My degree also gave me great understanding of luxury brands and luxury consumers, so I understand the market well.

“I had always had an interest in travel but I never thought I could find a role so well suited to me within the industry and I love it.

“My colleagues are the best bunch of people you’ll ever meet – they all welcomed me with open arms.

“Phil Nuttall (chief executive) consistently asks my opinion and has been so humble, open and welcoming, and you can tell he genuinely cares about me.

“After the last few years it’s hard to think about where I’ll want to be next but I can definitely see myself staying in the travel industry, it’s so exciting. No one works or parties hard like the travel industry does!”

Medlicott, an English and media graduate, is also responsible for managing the agency’s social media accounts, as well as providing content to homeworking agents and liaising with agents in store.

She also assists homeworkers with their own branding and marketing.

She said: “I love being able to utilise both my creativity and marketing knowledge to help other people as well as the business through advising and implementing marketing strategies and tips.

“I have always had a passion for travel but I never considered that a creative career within the industry would be possible – I always assumed you’d need qualifications in travel and tourism.

“But now that I can combine my love of travel with my career, I don’t have an intentions of leaving the industry.

“TVG are an incredibly dedicated, professional and proactive team of creative individuals that all have the same passion for travel as I do so I couldn’t want to be part of the community.

“I can safely say it’s by far the best job I have ever had – everyone around me if so kind and supportive and I have never felt more valued within a company.”

Managing director John Warr said: “Both Lilli and Jenny have settled into their roles extremely well despite being new to travel.

“As part of the marketing teams they have both come up with fresh ideas how to support our homeworkers and give us further social media reach.

“As a result of their work and web adjustments, our enquiries have continued to grow and last month were 30% higher then the previous month.”
