Tunisia is to allow tourists booked on a package holidays from Monday, April 19.
The North African country is insisting holidaymakers must provide evidence they have booked a flight, transfer and tourist accommodation as part of an organised and supervised tour.
Travellers must present a negative PCR test carried out no more than 72 hours before boarding on arrival.
They must commit to staying in groups in Tunisia, to use only tourist transport and accommodation, and comply with the Tunisian Anti-Covid-19 Tourism Health Protocol.
Tour operators and ground handlers are asked to ensure “rigorous application” of the conditions.
The UK government is looking at resuming international travel from May 17 at the earliest through a traffic light system of green, amber and red destinations.
Steve Bentzen, chief executive of Tunisia specialist Sunny Heart Travel, said: “The Sunny Heart Travel team in Tunisia have been working tirelessly with hoteliers who are desperate to see UK visitors again.
“I really hope we can offer them some good news when the traffic lights are announced.”
