Busch Gardens set for world’s ‘fastest and steepest’ hybrid rollercoaster

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is to open Iron Gwazi, which it says is the “world’s fastest and steepest” hybrid rollercoaster, on March 11.

Iron Gwazi, which stands at 206 feet, has a 91° drop and reaches speeds of 76mph, will be the theme park’s tenth rollercoaster.

It is also the tallest rollercoaster in North America.

The family-friendly ride has a 48-inch height restriction and combines wood and steel in a hybrid rollercoaster design.

Neal Thurman, president of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay Park, said: “The incredible anticipation for Iron Gwazi is shared by both our guests and ambassadors, and we are beyond excited to open this amazing coaster.”

“Iron Gwazi diversifies our thrill ride portfolio and is an impressive addition to the Tampa skyline. Combining classic elements of a wooden coaster with a smooth, steel track will provide thrill seekers with an unforgettable experience.”
