Cruise industry veteran Nigel Lingard has taken on a cruise business development role at a Greek DMC and tour operator.
Lingard, who has spent more than 30 years in the cruise sector, will combine working at Explore Greece Travel with other roles at Variety Cruises and B2B organisation Cruise Europe.
Explore Greece Travel, based in Athens, operates shore excursions, pre and post-cruise hotel stays and airport transfers across the country.
Lingard said: “Explore Greece Travel has been seeing the growth of the cruise industry but have been dealing with smaller cruise lines until now.
“They have been spotting the larger lines coming into the country as well. [Explore Greece Travel] is not working with any of the big ones so that is the next step. They want to break into that market.”
Explore’s current clients include Variety Cruises, National Geographic and Intrepid Travel, Lingard added.
Previously, he spent more than 23 years at Fred Olsen Cruise Lines and also held roles at Intrepid Travel and The Travel Visa Company.
