Travel Counsellor generates record £1.5m sales in single month

A Travel Counsellor generated £1.5 million in sales last month – the highest number ever recorded for a single person in the company’s history.

The achievement came as the company reported that almost 60 agents saw their strongest ever sales month in June.

Travel Counsellors attracted a record 18 new business owners during the month, with ten of these coming from outside the travel industry.

This came as bookings for the first half of the year came in at 150% of pre-pandemic levels as the group looks to recruit more agents to bolster the 1,500 working in the UK.

The company has already generated more departures for June to October than in 2019 and has nearly £100 million-worth of bookings for 2023.

Those with no travel experience join the Travel Counsellors Academy, which provides training and mentoring for entrepreneurs wanting a career change and to start their own business in the travel industry.

The six-month programme enables new starters to train on the job and start making bookings from week two.

There are six different entry routes to becoming a Travel Counsellor and a dedicated franchisee team advises on the best option for each individual.

UK managing director Kirsten Hughes said: “We have had a tremendous six months and our record-breaking June shows no sign of slowing down.

“We are actively looking for new franchisees and can offer ambitious individuals the opportunity to work flexibly and be in charge of their own destiny.

“This is something that we know many are searching for after reassessing their own personal goals over the last two very difficult years.

“Franchisees with Travel Counsellors not only get to work in an aspirational industry where no two days are the same, but they also receive the support of an incredibly experienced and supportive community.”
