Woman, 54, arrested in trade trolling probe

A 54-year-old woman has been arrested after the boss of Buckley Travel was targeted online by a troll.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed the woman was arrested on September 4 on suspicion of committing an offence of malicious communications.

She has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Jacqui Bowring, who runs Buckley Travel in Flintshire, Wales, and her son were repeatedly targeted this year.

Following the launch of campaign ‘Tackle the Trolls’ last month, Travel.Radio has revealed that 88 people in the travel industry have come forward with hate-filled messages sent to them online.

The station’s chief executive Debbie Henley said: “We have been contacted by 88 people in the travel industry, many are too afraid to come forward to the police.

“We are continuing with our campaign in an effort to support anyone who has been affected and will direct them to the various support agencies we have used.”

Travel.Radio plans to collate the messages and present them to social media firms.
