AmaWaterways puts agents at the heart of its success

Two of AmaWaterways’ business development managers share how they can help you grow bookings, access exclusive incentives and make the most of the opportunities ahead.

Hayley Gadd

Business development manager, West Midlands and southwest

How has your background shaped the way you support travel agents?

Having spent 27 years in the travel industry across retail, tour operating and partnerships, I understand the day-to-day challenges agents face. I can offer practical support, build strong relationships and help agents feel confident.

What does personalised support look like in practice?

I get to know each agent and what works best for them. Whether that’s face-toface visits, tailored training, joint marketing or simply being at the end of the phone, I aim to make it easy for agents to sell.

What incentives does AmaWaterways offer to agents?
Fam trips, seasonal campaigns and ‘Sell Three, Sail Free’, where agents earn a complimentary river cruise when they book three qualifying reservations. These are incredibly valuable because they give agents first-hand experience, reward their hard work and help them sell.

Harvie Lyons

Business development manager, north of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland

How does your marketing expertise help you support travel partners?

Having spent several years in the premium beauty industry developing creative campaigns, events and partnerships, I’m excited to bring a fresh perspective to the travel industry. I’ll be working closely with agents to share innovative marketing ideas, events and strategies that will attract new bookings.

What key resources and sales tools are available?

I’m available for in-person or remote training, visits and events. Our travel agent portal houses our online booking engine, AmaAcademy training platform, Approach Guides marketing tool, plus social media resources that agents are free to use. These tools provide agents with everything they need to learn and market AmaWaterways with confidence.

What new developments can agents look forward to?

Our new City Escapes itineraries offer a unique river cruise experience during Europe’s quieter months, appealing to clients looking for deeper city exploration and longer stays in port. Launching AmaMaya on the Mekong, AmaFiora on the Rhine and the double-width ship AmaRudi on the Danube in spring 2027 will also create fantastic selling opportunities for agents. We plan to extend our fleet to 50 ships by 2032.
