EasyJet’s seventh Glasgow aircraft enters service ahead of summer route launches

EasyJet has officially taken delivery of its seventh based aircraft at Glasgow Airport, cementing a network expansion first announced late last year.

The arrival of the 186-seat Airbus A320 brings the carrier’s total based fleet in Scotland to 17 aircraft, with easyJet confirming that 10% of its entire international network now touches Scottish airports.

First reported in November, the additional Glasgow capacity enables the airline to launch three new summer routes next week to Pisa, Sharm El Sheikh and Malta, alongside expanded frequencies on existing European services.

To support the addition, easyJet holidays has launched a regional promotion offering £100 off package bookings from Glasgow (GLA100) on minimum spends of £1,000 made before 11pm on August 3.

Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK country manager, said: “We are delighted to be celebrating the arrival of a seventh aircraft at our Glasgow base, as well as the launch of our new summer routes and package holidays to Pisa, Malta and Sharm El Sheikh.

Gavin Birch-Williams, managing director of Glasgow Airport, added that the physical arrival of the aircraft represents a “significant milestone” and a “major vote of confidence” in the Scottish market.

EasyJet currently operates over 100 routes to 24 countries across four Scottish airports.
