South Africa offer visitors many opportunities to immerse themselves into the countries culture and meet the locals.
Bo-Kaap is one of the most photographed areas of Cape Town with its colourful houses. A must-do is a traditional Cape Malay meal at one of the restaurants or a quick Cape Malay cooking course with one of the expert locals. Recipes date back centuries and are a spicy mix of Middle Eastern and Dutch styles of cooking, usually consisting of fruit, spices, vegetables and meat.
Johannesburg and Cape Town both have a Saturday market called Neighbourgoods, where visitors can enjoy a variety of cuisines and beverages as they soak up the South African sunshine and listen to live street music. There are also a number of handcraft stores for visitors to browse and purchase from.
