Limitless Travel is considering the appointment of a head of partnerships as part of a longer term plan to re-engage with the trade.
Angus Drummond, chief executive of the tour operator, which specialises in accessible travel, said the company was considering the move for early 2026.
The company has previously sold its holidays through the trade but currently does not work with travel agents.
“We are looking to hire a head of partnerships to spearhead that part of the business for us,” said Drummond, adding: “They will talk to key agents with a similar customer demographic to our current customers.
“At the moment our agent sales are non existent but we are looking [to change that] within 12 months. It is a focus we are looking at. If you get to agents you will increase demand.”
He acknowledged the need for agents to be trained and urged them “not to be afraid” to sell accessible holidays, which he cited as a “big opportunity” for the trade.
“An issue for agents is having the conversation with clients. They need to be professional and assertive to give customers confidence in them,” he said.
Drummond said the sector needed to work together to increase availability and sales of accessible holidays.
“We should all work on this together as an industry – the way to do it is drag it on its commercial benefits. It needs to be a snowball effect. That snowball effect is building but it’s too slow,” he said.
He added that Limitless was trying to be the “voice for the industry” but admitted: “It’s piecemeal at the moment.”
