Travel safety specialist issues Zika advice [Video]

Travel safety specialist beTravelwise has issued a warning to travellers heading to the Rio Olympic Games.

The company is advising visitors to use mosquito repellent, practice safe sex or abstain completely as precautions against the Zika virus.

 

 

It comes as millions of people prepare to travel to the Games, which begin in Rio de Janeiro on Friday.

 

 

Andy Prior, director at beTravelwise, said: “Mosquito bite prevention and safe or no sex is the best defence against the Zika virus; that’s the advice we are giving to our clients who are travelling to the Olympic Games or other Zika-infected areas.

 

 

“It’s never too late to be prepared and with just two days to go before the opening ceremony, we are issuing a few last-minute reminders to keep all travellers to the Americas safe this summer.”

 

 

The company, which offers training courses on travel risk management programmes, has created an animation to highlight its advice.
