Hurtigruten Expeditions starts ex-Dover sailings

Hurtigruten Expeditions’ Maud ship has started its ex-Dover programme, featuring 13 Norwegian fjords cruises throughout the winter.

The lead-in price for a 15-day Northern Lights and Fjords Expedition cruise to the Northern Cape is £2,999. Ports of call include Tromso, Molde and Bergen, all in Norway.

No fly-cruises departures from Dover are available until March 2022. Northern Lights voyages begin on October 6.

Anthony Daniels, general manager at Hurtigruten Expeditions UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: “We’ve been waiting patiently for this day to arrive and are delighted to finally see Maud set sail on her maiden voyage from the Port of Dover.

“Hurtigruten Expeditions are committed to investing in the UK travel industry and delivering guests new adventures, and our year-round sailings offer UK travellers an unrivalled expedition experience closer to home.”

Maud’s ex-Dover programme was first announced in June 2020.

Sonia Limbrick, head of cruise at Port of Dover, said: “It’s a proud moment for us all today as we embark on our new adventure together.

“We look forward to a great future supporting the Hurtigruten team and seeing year-round expedition cruising in Dover for the first time.”

The 528-passenger ship can be powered using biofuel to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, nitrogen oxides and sulphur oxides.
