Travel Counsellors launches recruitment drive

Travel Counsellors has invited homeworkers to speak about their experiences as part of a new recruitment drive following a spike in enquires from people wanting to start their own businesses.

The homeworking group, which has about 1,400 Travel Counsellors in the UK, has reported a 30% increase in the number of enquiries about building a travel business in the last quarter compared to the previous one.

Members have shared their experiences on camera and highlighted the opportunities available for the campaign – called TCs Like You.

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, more than 175 people have joined Travel Counsellors. Abta estimates that as many as 200,000 jobs in the sector have been lost or are a risk of redundancy.

Head of recruitment Matt Harding said: “The travel industry is going through an extremely difficult time, with many people facing uncertain futures through no fault of their own.

“As we emerge from the pandemic, the demand for corporate and leisure travel continues to grow, and investors are placing their money into the re-emergence of travel. At the same time, the furlough scheme is drawing to a close, leaving many people uncertain about their future in travel.

“At Travel Counsellors, we have the reputation of attracting talented travel professionals. There is also growing evidence that people are looking to take their professional lives in a new direction, with work-life balance being more important than ever.”

He added: “In this respect, Travel Counsellors are unique, offering a perfectly positioned vehicle for those who are passionate about travel to achieve the ultimate in work-life balance, by managing a business that operates around them.”

UK managing director Kirsten Hughes said: “This latest drive is targeted at experienced travel professionals who may be looking for a new opportunity.

“We have a vast array of business models available to entrepreneurial travel professionals. Existing TCs – TCs like you – are already using our model to build their dream travel career.”
