Hotel review: Taba Heights Marriott Beach Resort

The Taba Heights Marriott features all-inclusive options and is a good choice for families and couples.

The Marriott’s entertainment schedule is limited – if your clients want more organised activities and entertainment, send them to other local resorts such as the Sofitel, or even a livelier resort such as Sharm el-Sheikh.

The spa facilities are also rather basic, but a range of treatments are on offer, such as a Swedish massage (about £30 for 60 minutes).

However, the beach area is good, and has parasols and sun loungers, a bar and children’s play area. The large pool area features waterfalls and ample kids’ pools. Families will welcome the kids’ club and babysitting service ($8 an hour).

The choice of bars includes the cave-like Grotto bar, which has a swim-up bar; a small beach bar; the quiet Lobby Lounge bar; and the Regatta. The à la carte restaurant, Tuscany (deserted when I visited), offers an alternative to the unremarkable buffets in the main restaurant, with light meals and snacks on offer in the various bars.

Rooms come in a good range of sizes; mine was basic, but clean. Currently just two rooms are designed for disabled guests. While calling the Marriott a five-star resort is a bit generous, the staff are friendly and service is generally good.
