On the map

Alcudia: Tranquil resort ideal for families and couples, with a pretty old town inland and main sprawl along the coast.

Cala Bona: Fishing village on quiet east coast, with waterfront cafes and sandy coves.

Cala Millor: Lively, purpose-built resort with clear waters and gently sloping sand creating the island’s best beaches.

Cala D’Or: Another purpose- built resort spread over sandy coves, with large pedestrianised zone housing boutiques, bars, restaurants and a marina.

Magaluf: Rowdy reputation but maintains loyal following. Major investment has boosted public areas and hotel stock. Great value accommodation, all-night bars and clubs abound.

Palma Nova: Lively nightlife and sense of fun, with a family offering. Has a few traditional restaurants and cafés.

Palma: Capital city with huge Gothic cathedral, sleek modern art museum and quality restaurants and tapas bars.
