• Good access: Choose from British Airways, Lufthansa, KLM and Continental Airlines which all fly from the UK.

• History: Mexico is full of history, culture and wildlife. Stunning pyramids at historic sites throughout the country include the magical Palenque, a jungle-shrouded Mayan city.

• Beaches: There are wonderful beaches with coral reefs, turquoise water and long stretches of sand.

• Choose the right month: Coastal and low-lying regions are hot, humid and wet from May to September and it can be chilly in the north and central highlands between November and February.

• Quality accommodation: There are plenty of comfortable boutique hotels in most destinations at affordable prices.
