This website has the wow factor – it was packed with pictures of blue skies and gorgeous beaches and really put me in the mood for a holiday, as well as having a lot of information about Thailand.

My initial call was handled professionally, though a little more excitement would have been good, but I was impressed to receive an email from another agent within just a couple of hours, offering four packages in Pattaya.

They ranged in price from £1,999 for the Asia Pattaya Beach Hotel to £2,770 for the Centara Grand Mirage Beach, all for a week's full-board with transfers and Etihad flights departing December 3.

For variety, it might have been nice to have a suggestion other than Pattaya or some different dates, but a friendly follow-up email offered to look into other options so I was confident they would find the right deal
