The TTA Group is to negotiate joint commercial deals for its two consortia and is considering a move into homeworking.

Managing director of the Travel Trust Association and TTA Worldchoice Simon Hargreaves said the organisation is looking to take advantage of beingt he largest consortium by renegotiating the best deals for members.

He said: “We are going to try to get one deal for both sets of members and one contract. Our aim is for every supplier to deal with all our members.”

Worldchoice is a member of the Triton superconsortium, which also boasts Global Travel Group as a member. There has been much conjecture on the future of Triton following the exit of Advantage and TTA’s purchase of Worldchoice.

Hargreaves said: “Triton said it will offer unique and preferential deals to Worldchoice members. That is what they have promised and I hope they deliver on that. We will be happy to stay with them and get the deals.

“If it is a good deal we will try to argue that it should be the same for the TTA .“

When asked about homeworking, Hargreaves said: “We have been looking at it and believe it will fit into what we do across TTA and Worldchoice.”

TTA has indicated it wants to increase its membership organically and founding director Steve Clark has predicted TTA and TTA Worldchoice could boast 1,000 retail outlets within 12 months. The newly merged group has 879 outlets.

Hargreaves has also revealed it is considering acquisitions as the economic slowdown provides a strong opportunity for the company to expand. He said: “We are looking at two other companies and are in very early discussions on both.

“Keeping your nerve at the moment could really serve you well for the next 10 years.”
