Uganda has increased the number of daily permits available to view mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Up to an extra 3,000 people a year will be able to take part in the wildlife experience.

Prices have been pegged and international tour operators are being reminded by Uganda Wildlife Authority to book in advance through official channels.

The UWA says this method is preferred rather than relying on last-minute cash purchases which are being “strongly discouraged” as  visitors are often left disappointed by a lack of permits.

UWA has been inundated with permit requests as a result of significantly increased tourism to the African country during 2018, according to Tourism Uganda UK trade marketing manager Lisa Burton.
