United Airlines to increase US west coast flights

More flights are being added from Heathrow to the US west coast by United Airlines but Houston frequency is being cut.

The carrier is adding a second daily year-round San Francisco service from October 30 followed by a second daily Los Angeles flight from April 5, 2017.

 

 

United will reduce the number of daily non-stop flights operated to Houston from three to two from October 30.

 

 

However, both Houston services will be operated by a Boeing 777-200, an increase in aircraft size from the current schedule operated with 767-300s and 787s.

 

 

The new San Francisco service will be flown by 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft with 219 seats – 36 flat-bed seats in BusinessFirst and 183 in Economy, including 70 Economy Plus seats with added legroom and increased personal space.

 

 

Los Angeles will be served by 252-seat 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with 48 flat-bed seats in BusinessFirst and 204 in Economy, including 88 Economy Plus seats.

 

 

The airline’s UK and Ireland managing director Bob Schumacher said: “These additional flights demonstrate the success of our services from Heathrow to the US west coast.

 

 

“They will provide our UK customers with more travel options to the Bay Area and LA, as well as an extensive range of connections from our hubs at both San Francisco international airport and Los Angeles international airport to destinations across the U.S. and beyond.”
