Live television is to be screened to passengers flying on Virgin Atlantic Boeing 787 Dreamliners this summer.

Three channels will be available initially – Sport 24, BBC World News and CNN International.

Passengers will be able to tune in to live TV via seat-back screens or their own devices using on board Wi-Fi, at no extra cost.

The service is being introduced across the 13-strong Dreamliner fleet by the end of the year.

The airline expects to offer Wi-Fi connectivity across all its 39 aircraft by summer 2017.

Virgin Atlantic executive vice president of customer., Jill Brady, said: “We know staying up to date with current affairs and sporting events is really important to our customers and it’s fantastic we can now offer them the opportunity to view content live.

“We always put our customers at the heart of everything we do and this is just another example of us being able to expand on our promise of making travelling with us irresistible.”
