Health and well-being will take centre stage on Virgin Voyages’ first ship due to launch in 2020.

Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson and Virgin Voyages president and chief executive Tom McAlpin revealed details of nine public spaces on the ship based around its “Vitamin Sea” programme of health, fitness and rejuvenation.

The Crow’s Nest, a private sundeck, will host sunrise and sunset yoga, while The Athletic Club will feature an outdoor boxing ring, gymnastics equipment, cabanas and a sports bar.

A running track, The Runway, will circle around the ship and The B-Complex will host spin, yoga and cardio classes which face out to sea.

Other features include a Well-being Pool which will have fitness equipment, and a Gym and Tonic bar, and Redemption, the ship’s spa, which will house a hydrotherapy pool, mud room, salt room, cold plunge pools and quartz beds.

At night the spa’s thermal suite will host night-time parties with a DJ.

Sir Richard and McAlpin shared renderings and animations of the new features today at the Fincantieri shipyard in Genoa where it is being built.

They also revealed the name of the ship will be Scarlet Lady.

The first details of public spaces were announced in May, including Richard’s Rooftop, an outdoor lounge named after Virgin Group’s founder, and The Manor, a nightclub inspired by his history in the music business.

More details about onboard features, including dining and entertainment, will be revealed later in the year.

The 2,700-passenger adult-only vessel will sail Caribbean itineraries from Miami.
