ABTA sets June 5 deadline for nominations to fill board role

ABTAhas set a deadline of June 5 for nominations to fill Stephen Bath's vacancy on the board of directors.

 

The vacancy came about when Bath became ABTA's new president. The position is open to all Band C members – those who have an annual turnover of between £50m and £250m.

 

Meanwhile, ABTA Council of Regions chairman Sandy MacPherson has vowed to confront issues head on – including the controversial direct booking information in brochures – in a bid to influence the board.

 

"We will tackle issues regardless of whether they may be uncomfortable for some,” he said. "We intend to fulfil our mandate and work on behalf of the independent members.”

 

The strategy was devised this week during a meeting with vice-chairman Doug Wardle.
