Aer Lingus regional arm boosts Belfast-Southampton summer frequency

Aer Lingus Regional is raising capacity between Belfast City Airport and Southampton for the peak summer cruise season.

More than 17,000 seats are being added on the route with eight extra flights a week.

The schedule expansion from April will see a new Saturday mid‑morning flight from Belfast City along with an early‑afternoon departure from Southampton Airport.

These have been timed to connect with cruise boarding and disembarking times at the port of Southampton.

Frequency is also being raised throughout the week to offering greater flexibility for travellers.

Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Emerald Airlines, is also cutting fares by 25% in a January sale for travel until June 12. 

Belfast City aviation development manager Ellie McGimpsey said: “We are committed to delivering strong regional connectivity from the heart of Belfast.

“The expansion of Aer Lingus Regional’s Belfast City–Southampton service further builds on this, particularly ahead of the peak cruise season.

“Combined with our excellent security times, these additional frequencies and enhanced timings will ensure our passengers enjoy greater choice and convenience this summer.”
