Amadeus to buy into Opodo

GLOBAL distribution system Amadeus is set to acquire a stake in airline-owned website Opodo.

Industry sources have revealed it is in advanced negotiations to acquire either part or all of the website. Opodo and Amadeus refused to comment claiming it was “market speculation”.

The two companies already work closely as Amadeus provides global distribution services for Opodo. In addition, Air France, Iberia and Lufthansa have shares in both companies.

One source said: “This is definitely happening. They’ve been in talks for months and the deal is near closure.”
