AMERICAN CUTS TO 4%

AMERICAN Airlines has bowed to pressure from rivals and cut UK agents’ commission to 4%.

The carrier’s move, which follows Star Alliance airlines cutting rates to the same amount, takes effect on January 1 2003. American currently pays 7% commission.

The airline said it could not pay the higher rate if costs exceeded those of its competitors.
