August to break record for aircraft seats from UK to Europe

This month is projected to break the record for the number of aircraft seats on offer from the UK to continental Europe, with nearly 12 million made available.

Aviation analytics firm Cirium, whose records date back to 2004, said August 2025 is expected to offer a total of 11,848,554 seats, with August 29 set to be the top-performing single day when 2,166 flights depart and 392,350 seats are available.

The peak summer month is also set to be the busiest ever for seats from the UK to Spain, with more than 2,985,360 on offer between the two countries.

It is also expected to be the top month for seats to Greece (more than 1,040,000) and Italy (987,806).

A total of 65,158 flight departures are scheduled from the UK to Europe this month.

While the figure is lower than in previous years, this year’s schedule equates to more seats because of larger and more dense aircraft being operated on the routes.
