GROWTH at British Airways’ regional operations is set to exceed mainline growth at BA, according to general manager UK business David Evans.
The consolidation of subsidiary carriers, the use of smaller jets to increase frequencies and the ease of access to regional airports, will all help boost profits for the carrier’s regional market which, Evans said, is on target to attract six million passengers this year.
“Regional operations are important for BA and bring in around £1 billion per year. BA’s acquisition of the British Regional Air Lines group last month is the first step towards building a stronger regional presence for BA,” said Evans.
