Barrhead Travel buys remaining shares in Falkirk franchisee Greig Avinou Travel

Barrhead Travel has bought the remaining shares in franchise shop Greig Avinou Travel, the Falkirk agency recently named Jet2holidays’ leading trade partner.

The acquisition comes as Greig Avinou has decided to step back from the business to spend more time with his family, Barrhead Travel said.

Barrhead Travel president Jacqueline Dobson said: “Greig has been a huge part of this journey, and I want to personally thank him for everything he has brought to the business.

“He has built something really special, with a fantastic team and a loyal customer base. We’re proud to be taking the business forward as part of the Barrhead Travel Group and to be continuing the approach that Greig has established.”

The group added that the shop would now be led by Kieran McVeigh, head of sales under Avinou.

In December, Greig Avinou Travel was named as Jet2holidays’ best-performing trade partner in the UK for sales in 2025.

During the operator’s annual conference last month, the business was named national retail travel agency of the year, top high street travel agency in Scotland and top high street travel agency for non-families.

Barrhead Travel said the acquisition reflects its “long‑term strategy of continuing to back the high‑street travel model”.

It added: “Greig Avinou Travel has operated very much in the mould of Barrhead Travel Falkirk – a people‑led, customer‑focused business built on strong relationships, high standards and a genuine passion for travel.”
